What Interakt is

Interakt is an Indian Business Solution Provider (BSP) for WhatsApp — a company that resells access to the WhatsApp Business Platform (Meta’s official API, still widely called the WhatsApp Business API) wrapped in a dashboard that marketing and support teams can actually operate. You use it to run templated order updates, opt-in campaigns and click-to-WhatsApp ad conversations without building a template manager and inbox yourself.

It sits in the same category as Gupshup, AiSensy, WATI, Zoko, Netcore and Infobip, as we set out in our WhatsApp marketing playbook for India. Meta still bills you per message; the BSP fee is a separate line on top. We have not yet published a rupee figure for Interakt’s own plans, so every tier below reads “Not published”.

Key features

These are the capabilities a BSP in this class is bought for. Confirm each against Interakt’s current plan sheet before you sign — we have not independently tested the product.

  • Cloud API access without developer build time
  • Shared team inbox, so more than one agent can reply from one number
  • Template submission and approval workflow
  • Product catalogue support
  • Shopify and WooCommerce hooks for order and cart events
  • Click-to-WhatsApp ad integration
  • Contact segmentation for broadcasts, with opt-in source recorded

Who it fits

The clearest trigger is outgrowing the free WhatsApp Business App, which runs on a phone and caps broadcasts at 256 saved contacts. Once you are messaging more than a few hundred people, or you need a second person answering chats, the app stops working and a BSP starts making sense.

In India that usually means a D2C brand on Shopify or WooCommerce running order, shipping and cart-recovery flows; a services business — clinic, salon, gym, coaching centre, insurer — sending appointment and renewal reminders; or a high-consideration category like education, real estate, insurance or B2B running click-to-WhatsApp ads.

By team size: a one-to-five-person marketing team with no engineer is the core fit. A larger team with developer capacity should price the Cloud API direct from Meta, which carries no hosting charge, against the BSP subscription. If you are also deciding where customer data lives, our first-party data guide for small teams is the companion read.

Where it is weak

  • We have no published price for it. That is a real limitation of this page. Our sourced figures cover the BSP category, not Interakt specifically: entry plans across the category start near ₹1,000–₹2,500 a month and mid-market plans run ₹5,000–₹15,000. Treat those as category planning numbers, not Interakt’s quote.
  • No BSP changes Meta’s economics. Since 1 July 2025 Meta bills per message, not per 24-hour conversation. In India expect roughly ₹0.78–₹0.88 per marketing message, ₹0.11–₹0.15 per utility message and around ₹0.13 per authentication message. At 50,000 marketing sends, messaging costs ₹40,000 and the software fee is rounding error.
  • Quality rating risk stays with you. Your number’s green/yellow/red rating and its messaging tier are Meta’s judgement, driven by blocks and reports. No vendor interface protects a purchased list.
  • The category is crowded and undifferentiated. Most BSPs sell the same core bundle. Switching cost is mainly template re-approval and number migration, which cuts both ways — low lock-in, but also little reason to pay a premium.
  • Compliance is yours. Documented opt-in and India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 obligations sit with you, whatever the dashboard shows.

Alternatives

  • AiSensy — another India-focused BSP in the same bracket. We have no dedicated page yet; the BSP section of our WhatsApp playbook covers how to compare them.
  • Gupshup — larger, more enterprise and multi-channel in positioning. Same caveat: see the playbook for the evaluation checklist.
  • Cloud API direct from Meta — no hosting charge, per-message rates only, but you build the dashboard, template manager and inbox. Worth modelling if you have developer time; the cost comparison is in the playbook.

WATI, Zoko, Netcore and Infobip are the other names you will see on shortlists in India.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Interakt cost in India?

LearnMarketing has not published a price for Interakt’s plans, so we will not quote one. What we have costed is the category: WhatsApp BSP entry plans in India generally start near ₹1,000–₹2,500 a month and mid-market plans run ₹5,000–₹15,000. Meta’s per-message charges are billed separately and, at any real volume, are the larger number. Get a written quote before budgeting.

Do I still pay Meta if I use Interakt?

Yes. A BSP resells Cloud API access; it does not absorb Meta’s charges. Since 1 July 2025 Meta bills per message. India planning rates are roughly ₹0.78–₹0.88 for marketing, ₹0.11–₹0.15 for utility and around ₹0.13 for authentication messages. Replies you send inside an open 24-hour customer service window are free. Your total is the software fee plus that messaging spend.

Should I use Interakt or the free WhatsApp Business App?

Use the free app if you are a single shop or solo consultant — it is phone-based, costs nothing, but has no automation, no CRM integration, and caps broadcast lists at 256 saved contacts. Move to a BSP such as Interakt once you are messaging more than a few hundred people, need a shared inbox for multiple agents, or want Shopify, WooCommerce or click-to-WhatsApp ad integration.

Does Interakt keep me compliant with Indian rules?

Partly. WhatsApp is not governed by the DLT registration system that covers Indian SMS, but Meta requires documented opt-in before the first message and pre-approved templates for anything business-initiated. A BSP dashboard helps you manage templates and opt-out records. Consent obligations under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 remain yours: consent must be specific and informed, and withdrawal as easy as giving it.
