HubSpot vs Zoho CRM: Which to Pick in India

A rupee-first comparison of HubSpot and Zoho CRM for Indian marketing and product teams, using only the price bands we have actually costed.

If your revenue is in rupees and your list is heading past 10,000 contacts, pick Zoho — it bills in INR with a GST invoice, offers an India data centre, and the Zoho Marketing Automation bands we have costed sit a factor of five or more below HubSpot's at the same list size. Pick HubSpot if you are a funded B2B team of roughly 5-30 people, often earning in dollars, with a long sales cycle and one named person who owns the system, because you are buying consolidated marketing, sales and service reporting on a single record rather than an email tool. Below about 2,000 contacts either works and the choice is about features, not money.

HubSpot

≈ ₹1,300–1,800 per seat/month (about $15–20); free tier exists

Assumes a small list — around 1,000 contacts. At 10,000 contacts Starter with contact add-ons is about ₹17,000/month (≈$195).

Zoho CRM

Not published

Solo founder or a two-to-five person team. We have not costed Zoho CRM seats at any size; for scale, Zoho Marketing Automation at 1,000 contacts runs about ₹1,000–1,600 a month.

The short answer

If your company earns in rupees, go with Zoho. It invoices in INR with 18% Goods and Services Tax (GST) you can claim back, offers an India data centre, and the Zoho pricing we have published sits far below HubSpot’s at the same list size.

Choose HubSpot only if you are a funded business-to-business (B2B) company of roughly 5-30 people with a long sales cycle, someone whose job includes owning the system, and a genuine need for marketing, sales and service to read one dataset. Under about 2,000 contacts, both are affordable and the decision should be about features, not price.

How they differ on cost

Here is every band we have actually costed, side by side. Where a cell says “not published”, that means LearnMarketing has not costed it — not that it is free, and not that we are hiding a number.

What you are buying HubSpot Zoho CRM
Entry point Free CRM tier; Starter ≈ ₹1,300-1,800 per seat/month (about $15-20) Not published — we have not costed Zoho CRM seats at any size
At ~1,000 contacts Starter band above, assuming a small list Zoho Marketing Automation ≈ ₹1,000-1,600/month
At ~10,000 contacts Starter with contact add-ons ≈ ₹17,000/month (about $195); Professional ≈ ₹1.2 lakh/month (about $1,390) Zoho Marketing Automation ≈ ₹4,000-6,000/month; Zoho Campaigns ≈ ₹1,500-3,000/month for email only
At ~50,000 contacts Professional ≈ ₹3 lakh/month (about $3,390) Zoho Marketing Automation ≈ ₹13,000-20,000/month
Top tier Enterprise: not published. Quote-only. Enterprise editions: not published.
One-time onboarding Mandatory at higher tiers, in the ₹2.5 lakh range Not published; partner implementation fees sit outside the licence
Billing and tax US dollars, plus 2-3.5% card forex markup and 18% GST on top Rupees, 18% GST on the invoice, GSTIN shown
Data residency Stored abroad by default; no India data centre India data centre option

Two honest asymmetries in that table. First, the Zoho rows are Marketing Automation and Campaigns figures, not CRM seat prices — we have published no per-seat number for Zoho CRM itself, so a full Zoho quote will be the band shown plus seats you need to ask Zoho for in writing. Second, HubSpot’s Enterprise tier is quote-only and we have not costed it; treat any Enterprise figure a salesperson shows you as an opening position.

What actually drives the bill is list size, not seats. HubSpot sells extra contacts in blocks of 5,000 at a few hundred dollars a block, so a database drifting from 10,000 to 50,000 can add more than ₹2 lakh a month with nobody signing a purchase order. On the HubSpot side there is also a surcharge almost no one budgets: on a ₹1.2 lakh monthly bill, the cross-currency card markup alone runs roughly ₹3,000-4,500 a month — about ₹40,000 a year — before GST. Recurring international card payments also fail regularly under the Reserve Bank of India’s e-mandate rules, which is how teams lose platform access mid-campaign.

Where HubSpot Pricing & Review (India) wins

One record, one dataset. Marketing, sales and service sit on the same contact, so campaign and revenue reporting comes out of the box rather than out of a spreadsheet someone maintains on Fridays. If your sales and marketing teams currently argue about whose numbers are right, this is the thing you are buying.

The marketing-contacts model. You pay only for contacts flagged as “marketing” — the ones you can email and target. Dormant records can be stored without being billed. Teams that audit and reclassify quarterly save real money; teams that never do pay for every lead they have ever touched.

Ecosystem and hiring. A large app marketplace and a deep agency-partner network, including in India, means you can hire someone who already knows the platform. That matters more than feature checklists when your one systems owner resigns.

A free tier that is genuinely usable. Below roughly 2,000 contacts, the free CRM plus Starter at ₹1,300-1,800 a seat is a serious option — and it is the one entry price either vendor publishes clearly.

Where Zoho CRM: Features, India Pricing & Alternatives wins

Rupee economics. INR billing, a GST invoice with a GSTIN on it, input tax credit for registered businesses, and no forex markup. For a company whose revenue is in rupees, that removes an entire category of finance friction — not just a line item.

Cost at scale. Once your list passes 10,000 contacts, the Zoho bands we have costed are cheaper by a factor of five or more, and the gap widens as you grow. Compare ₹13,000-20,000 a month at 50,000 contacts with ₹3 lakh a month at the same size.

Data residency. The India data centre option shortens Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023 conversations considerably. With HubSpot you will be explaining cross-border storage to someone’s legal team.

Suite gravity. If you already run Zoho Books or Zoho Desk, the integration is free and the data moves without middleware. That is the strongest practical argument for Zoho CRM and it has nothing to do with features.

Which to pick at your stage

Solo founder or two to five people, under ~2,000 contacts. Either. HubSpot’s free CRM and Starter seats are published and cheap; Zoho’s CRM seat price you will have to request. If your revenue is in rupees, default to Zoho and skip the dollar contract entirely.

Five to twenty people with a human sales motion. Zoho, in most Indian cases — B2B software, edtech, financial products, real estate. A shared pipeline is the point, and this is the cheapest credible way to get one without dollar billing. Add Zoho Marketing Automation (₹4,000-6,000 a month at 10,000 contacts) only when you genuinely need scoring and journeys.

Funded B2B, five to thirty people, often earning in dollars. HubSpot. At Professional’s ₹1.2 lakh a month at 10,000 contacts, the maths only works if it replaces a CRM, an email tool and a reporting habit — and if you budget the ₹2.5 lakh-range onboarding fee in the first draft, not the third.

Direct-to-consumer or app business with lakhs of users. Neither, as your main spend. Contact-based pricing punishes large low-value lists; WebEngage, MoEngage and CleverTap price on monthly active users (MAU) in mid-market bands of ₹6-25 lakh, ₹8-35 lakh and ₹10-40 lakh a year respectively. You may still want a cheap CRM for the sales side.

What neither does well

Neither gives you a price you can build a budget from at the top end. HubSpot’s Enterprise tier is quote-only and uncosted here. Zoho CRM’s seat price is uncosted here at every tier. So the one question a buyer at scale most wants answered — what does this cost me in year two — cannot be answered off a page. Get it in writing before you plan.

Channel costs sit outside both licences. WhatsApp, SMS, push and email volume are billed separately by both. The licence is often the smaller number; price your whole stack, not the software line.

Implementation and migration are excluded on both sides. Neither band includes the weeks of someone’s time spent cleaning data and rebuilding workflows. On HubSpot you get an explicit onboarding fee instead; with Zoho you absorb it quietly, or pay a partner.

And neither fixes an empty funnel. If you send one campaign a month to 3,000 people, no tool on this page changes your results. Content, list growth and media come first — see first-party data strategy for small teams for where to put that effort instead.

Frequently asked questions

Is Zoho cheaper than HubSpot for an Indian team?

Yes, substantially — usually by a factor of five or more once your list passes 10,000 contacts, and the gap widens as you grow. Zoho Marketing Automation runs about ₹4,000-6,000 a month at 10,000 contacts against HubSpot Professional’s ₹1.2 lakh. Zoho also bills in rupees, so there is no forex markup and the 18% GST is straightforward to claim back as input tax credit.

What does Zoho CRM cost per seat in India?

We have not published a per-seat price for Zoho CRM, so treat it as uncosted rather than reading a number into the gap. The Zoho figures we have costed are for Zoho Marketing Automation — roughly ₹1,000-1,600 a month at 1,000 contacts, ₹4,000-6,000 at 10,000, ₹13,000-20,000 at 50,000 — and Zoho Campaigns at about ₹1,500-3,000 a month at 10,000 contacts. Ask Zoho for the seat rate in writing.

When is HubSpot’s higher price actually justified?

When the value comes from consolidation rather than sending. A funded B2B company with a long sales cycle, a named owner for the system, and marketing, sales and service that need to read one contact record can defend HubSpot Professional at about ₹1.2 lakh a month at 10,000 contacts. If your main job is newsletters, or your list is large and low-value, the contact-based pricing punishes you.

What hidden costs should I budget for on each side?

On HubSpot: a mandatory one-time onboarding fee in the ₹2.5 lakh range at higher tiers, contact blocks of 5,000 that inflate the bill as your list grows, a 2-3.5% card forex markup, and annual contracts you generally cannot reduce mid-term. On Zoho: CRM seats on top of any Marketing Automation band, plus implementation and migration effort. Channel costs — WhatsApp, SMS, email volume — are extra on both.
